Oregon Department of Education
Director Candidate
Dr. Kim Moore
Recognized for delivering results with vision, integrity, and passion through collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
The Honorable Governor Tina Kotek, Governor of Oregon,
With over 20 years of experience as an educational leader, I believe I will significantly contribute to the Department's priorities and strategies as Director of the Oregon Department of Education.
I’m Dr. Kim Moore, and I'm impressed by the Department's commitment to achieving excellent results for Oregon's students through strategic problem-solving, collaboration, and a vision that inspires passion.
Those are values that I hold dear, and I'm proud to have a track record of successfully implementing them in my previous roles.
In my most recent position as Assistant Superintendent for Career and Innovative Programs at Pasco County Schools in Florida, I worked with executive leadership to establish strategic plans, policies, and actions that raised student performance for more than 87,000 students.
Another thing I'm proud of is my work in Pasco County Schools' Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative. I recruited, selected, and established the Community Equity Advisory Council and conducted a District Equity Audit. I also developed and implemented a District Access and Opportunity Statement for over 12,000 employees and 87,000 students.
I have experience in legislative trends, developments, and opportunities in the K-12 federal, state, and local environments, which I've used to develop policies and procedures for my district.
I've worked with the Superintendent to balance a $1.8 billion budget, ensuring strategic plan alignment and fiscal responsibility. I also led the development and administration of the district's $8MM workforce development and training programs, a highlight of my time there.
Before that, as their Director of Administration, I managed and supported day-to-day operations for the seventh-largest school district in the nation, Hillsborough County Public Schools. And as a Principal in the same district, I directed educational, administrative, and operational activities at the most technologically advanced magnet high school, raising the graduation rate by 41% over four years.
My experience, legislative knowledge, and collaborative leadership style would be an asset to the Oregon Department of Education.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my candidacy.
