Have you ever asked yourself, “why am I here?” Well, I have asked myself that question numerous times during my adult years. Over time, my response has changed.
Early in my career, my answer was about climbing the next rung on the corporate ladder. I was focused on being successful. All of my time, energy, and attention were on doing a great job so I would be promoted.
As I advanced in my career, my answer to the question shifted from achieving success to making an impact. I found myself looking for ways to add value to others. So, when John Maxwell started the John Maxwell Team, I immediately joined as a Founding Partner.
I love growing leaders and helping others reach their potential. As an educational leader, I have the privilege to help students discover their passions. As a leadership coach, I help aspiring, emerging, and accomplished leaders reach their potential.
Now when I find myself asking, “why am I here?” I know I’m here to equip leaders.
In addition to coaching, mentoring, and training leaders, I co-host an annual leadership conference, Live2Lead Tampa Bay, in partnership with the John Maxwell Company.
During the most recent Live2Lead conference, John Maxwell introduced his new book Change Your World: How Anyone, Anywhere Can Make a Difference. John also invited all of his coaches to join the Change Your World movement and become a catalyst for change.
Can anyone become a catalyst for change? Maybe…
John believes values are foundational to living out positive actions. In his book, John explains “that anyone willing to learn and live good values, value people, and collaborate with them can change their world.”
Therefore, we can all be a catalyst for change.
“The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are usually the ones who do.”
Steve Jobs
Well, after reading the book, I found myself asking a different question…
Instead of “why am I here?” I wondered, “how can I make a difference doing what I love?” I want to be a catalyst for change by helping leaders.
Now, I know what you’re thinking? You are wondering, “Kim, aren’t you already doing that?” Yes, but I knew I could do more. So, I joined John’s Change Your World movement as a Facilitator.
Why did I become a Change Your World Facilitator? Because, as John says; “I want to make a difference with people who make a difference, living values that make a difference, and taking action that makes a difference.”
So, what am I doing to make a difference? I’m facilitating a Change Your World Transformation Table Group as a catalyst for change.
What are you doing to change your world?
