One of my favorite pastimes is to watch the news as I’m eating lunch. Yes, I still watch the news. Now I will admit, over the last three months, the news has been depressing.

Every day, they give an update on the current status of COVID-19 and the impact on the economy. Although the stock market has rebounded over the last couple of months, the economy has struggled.

While COVID-19 is still presenting challenges across the world, economic realities have required businesses to begin reopening. To be prepared for the reopening, businesses have made significant changes to their daily operations to create a safe environment and address the concerns of their staff.

During this pandemic, many of us have been working remotely. However, it’s time to return to work. Your organization has reopened its doors, and you are returning to your traditional office.

As you prepare to walk into your workspace, you are probably wondering what you should expect? Although you are aware of the new protocols, you’re not sure what your next steps should be. As a result, you may be feeling uncertain and uncomfortable.

Well, you are not alone. Many of us are wrestling with the same questions. We’ve returned to work, now what? How do we move forward in this new normal?

To set yourself up for success, consider the following ten actions you can take to ease your transition:

  1. Recalibrate and adjust your expectations
  2. Maintain a positive attitude about returning to the office
  3. Adopt and improve safety protocols
  4. Reassess your home care plan
  5. Willingly participate in team-building activities
  6. Take time to reconnect with colleagues
  7. Review work plans and make necessary adjustments
  8. Assess alternative work schedules
  9. Communicate your work schedule to stakeholders
  10. Prepare your workspace for the “new normal”

The world has changed, and so has your organization. Therefore, you must adapt to meet the needs of your organization. Changing your perspective will help you find the blessings amid the changes.

“If you put your heart, mind, and soul into your work, success will find you wherever you are. Welcome back. You’ve been missed!”

Carlos Marin

Returning to your traditional work environment is an opportunity for you to expand your impact on the business. Now is the time to seize the day and look for new opportunities

You’ve returned to work, now what? It’s your choice…
