Due to a COVID-19 “Safe-at-Home” order from the Governor, for the past several weeks I have been working from home. For now, work-life as I’ve known it is gone…
Not only has my work life changed, but my fitness life has also changed. Until COVID-19 rose its ugly head, there were opportunities for improvement in my fitness life, but I had more choices.
In the past, I had the option of going to the fitness center in our community either before or after work. As a result of COVID-19 precautions, the fitness center is closed, and no longer an option…
Fortunately, I still have the options of walking, bike riding, and working out at home. There’s only one problem with working out at home, I don’t have any equipment.
You see, last year we downsized our home, and I got rid of my treadmill. Since we had a complete exercise room in our new community, I did not see the need to keep exercise equipment. Well, for me that makes for a very short workout at home…
Just when I thought I was off the hook for exercising at home, a friend sent me an exercise routine that did not require any equipment. Oh, joy…
The sister of my friend who is a personal Trainer developed a fitness routine where your full name is the workout (repeat as needed). Each letter of the alphabet corresponded to a specific exercise you performed based on each letter of your full name. Here are the letters and exercises:
- A – 50 Jumping Jacks
- B – 20 Crunches
- C – 30 Squats
- D – 15 Push-Ups
- E – 1 Minute Wall Sit
- F – 10 Burpees
- G – 20 Plyo Lunges
- H – 20 Jump Squats
- I – 30 Jumping Jacks
- J – 1 Minute Plank
- K – 10 Push-Ups
- L – 20 Tricep Dips
- M – 20 Burpees
- N – 25 Burpees
- O – 40 Jumping Jacks
- P – 15 Plyo Lunges
- Q – 30 Crunches
- R – 15 Push-Ups
- S – 30 Jump Squats
- T – 15 Burpees
- U – 30 Tricep Dips
- V – 2 Minute Wall Sit
- W – 50 Calf Raises
- X – 60 Jumping Jacks
- Y – 2 Minute Plank
- Z – 20 Push-Ups
My name’s Kim Moore so my exercises would be 10 Push-Ups, 30 Jumping Jacks, 20 Burpees, 20 Burpees, 40 Jumping Jacks, 40 Jumping Jacks, 15 Push-Ups, and a 1 Minute Wall Sit! You get the picture. Thank God my full name is only 8 letters!
To be perfectly transparent, I haven’t tried this exercise routine yet. It’s on my list, but for now, walking and riding my bike are keeping me physically fit.
“Things work out best for those who make the best of how things work out.”
John Wooden
Here’s my bottom line; although life as we know it has changed significantly, leaders can make the best of the time we have to stay physically fit.
Are you staying fit while being safe?

Thanks for sharing the exercise routine. I’ve been walking, but doing a little more sounds appealing! Just have to turn sounds into action! Keep well!
